How many people can you accommodate?

Up to 34 people can stay in our ensuite rooms throughout the convict cottages and farm barns down by the Clyde River. For larger groups we can fit a further 10 people in Homestead rooms, sharing three bathrooms between them. We can also organise overflow accommodation in the village or on-site camping by the river!

What time is check-in?

Check-in is from 3pm, unless requested and required earlier.

What time is check-out?

Check-out is 10am, unless requested and required to be later.

Early check-in/late check-out?

Yes, and depending on circumstances, fees may or may not apply.

Are infants and children welcome?

Absolutely, we love little people. And, they enjoy seeing the farm animals.

Is there a different rate for children?

There is no fee for a child using a cot, but as our additional cost/head is only $40 per person, then anyone using a bed is charged unless part of a large group of long-term booking.

Do you have cots for babies?

Yes we do, and there is no extra charge. Please just inform us when placing your booking so we can have a cot ready in your room for you.

Can you provide a babysitter?

There are some local babysitters available. Please ask organise the times you need a babysitter, with at least 72 hours’ notice. The cost can be between $20 – $25 per hour depending on who is available and the time of year. It doesn’t matter how many children need to be looked after.

Are pets welcome?

Most pets are welcome to stay as long as their owners have good control of them (Ratho is a full working farm, with animals abounding everywhere around!), and take full responsibility for them. Please discuss your needs with your Host beforehand.

What is the minimum number night stay?

Most of the year, 1 night is fine. There are a few little peaks like Christmas/New Year when we may put out some multi-night minimums, based around large group full-house book outs.

Are we able to rent the entire property?

Absolutely. We think Ratho Farm particularly shines when groups – whether they be corporates, families or functions – take over the WHOLE estate, with effectively their own private golf course, fishing river and 3 kitchens if required for self-catering!

Do you have wifi?

Yes in the Homestead and in the rooms in the convict cottages there is complimentary wifi.

What type of bed is in each room?

All rooms except the Foaling Room can be configured as either two single beds or one king-sized bed.

What is the best suite at Ratho Farm?

The charming Bakery on the edge of the Clyde River is our premier suite. It has two bedrooms, one bathroom and is the only suite in its own building.

It is the old Bakery building for the Ratho village. Complete with bread oven in the wall and burnt convict built shingles in the roof structure, it is certainly a lovely room.

Which are the best suites for a young family?

All four convict cottage buildings are set up for families of differing sizes and preferences. See the map of the farm here to understand the below descriptions better:

  •       The Bakery (up to 4 people) is the only suite in its own building and ideal for 2 adults and 2 children. It is perched on the Clyde River and the main bedroom is spacious.
  •       The Verandah Cottage (up to 8 people) also overlooks the Clyde River has 4 rooms that can connect – Verandah View (good for the adults); Anglers; Link Room (connects Verandah View with Anglers) and Skillion links from the Verandah View.
  •       The Yard Run (up to 4 people) is a nice 2 bedroom suite attached to the Brokenback Barn.
  •       The Stables (up to 18 people) has four one bedroom suites on the ground floor (Oak View, Farriers, Box Stall and Tack Room), attached to a small central kitchen, and 2 two bedroom suites upstairs (Granary and Hayloft). None of the one bedrooms downstairs interconnect however the Granary and Hayloft upstairs have a connecting door which may be kept open. A third single bed can be added to the Granary and Hayloft upon request.

The Bakery and Verandah View cottages are on the edge of the Clyde River, where fishing is possible and sighting of a platypus who lives amongst the reeds. Ideal for a curious, young family.

We would like a quiet and private suite, which do you recommend?

The Bakery has 2 bedrooms, one bathroom and is the only suite in its own building. It can accommodate up to 4 people, 4 single beds, 2 singles and a king bed or 2 king beds. Other quiet suites are the Foaling Room or the Yard Run.

The stables building, which contains – on the ground floor the suites: Tack Room, Oak View, Box Stall and Farriers; and the Hayloft and Granary suites on the first floor – has a small, limited communal kitchen on ground floor.

The kitchen is only 4m x 4m, so quite small for people to sit and eat. We recommend you could only comfortably cook and seat 6 people. It is fully equipped however. If you will have booked the entire property, you will be able to use the kitchen in the Homestead – which has been used to cook for over 50 people before.
